Title
PhytoComplement: Sustainable microalgae product out of diverse phytoplankton for application in aquaculture
General information
In the PhytoComplement project, ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ Kiel, ICBM Oldenburg and Hansegarnelen AG are jointly developing a sustainable alternative to conventional feed raw materials for aquaculture. The aim is to identify, cultivate and analyze selected microalgae species - especially diatoms and dinoflagellates - from the North and Baltic Seas with regard to their content of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA, DHA), vitamins and proteins. After successful screening and establishment of cultivation, feed samples will be produced and their applicability tested in growth trials on shrimps.
