Research Focus

  • Ecology and environmental tolerances of diatoms in a changing Arctic Ocean.
  • Assessing the impact of parasitic infection of diatoms by mycoplankton on productivity, biochemical composition and subsequently on the nutritional quality of organic matter.
  • Search for biochemical indicators to assess functional changes in primary producers.

Projects

Innovative pressure-state indicators for biodiversity changes based on a globally unique marine plankton data set and using the latest AI-supported statistical methods

BMBF (German Ministry of Science and Education)
Funding period: 2024 - 2027

WP3: Experiments on selected diatom-host/mycoplankton interactions
