Temperatures and currents at 450 m depth in the high-resolution Kiel computer model (snapshot). The Agulhas Current flows along the South African coast. Southwest of Cape Town it abruptly turns back into the Indian Ocean. In this process huge rings of water (鈥淎gulhas Rings鈥) are separated, carrying warm and saline waters into the Atlantic.
